Kusters Calico Machinery Pvt. Ltd. (KCM) was established in the year 1996 in Baroda as Joint Venture Company between Eduard Kusters Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co, Germany and Calico Industrial Engineers, India. Subsequently, Eduard Kusters worldwide was taken over by Jagenberg AG, Germany and in February 2018 Jagenberg AG acquired 100% shares in Kusters Calico, India.

Kusters Calico has two business verticals:

  1. Textile wet processing machinery

  2. Converting Machinery

Kusters Calico is one of the leading Indian company in Textile Wet Processing in woven and knits fabrics. KCM designs and manufactures continuous production lines.
In Textile Wet Processing machines, KCM manufactures Washing, Dyeing, Bleaching, Singeing, Mercerizing, Finishing, Desizing and Dye Padders.

In Converting division, Kusters Calico manufactures Converting Machines like Coating and Lamination lines, which are used, for converting plastic films or foils to packaging material or for further processing by creating barriers for air, moisture and light by coating with various materials. First Calico and later Kusters Calico has been manufacturing such lines for the last 40 years with Technical Tie up with Swiss based company called Polytype Converting.

In 2017, Jagenberg AG purchased Polytype Converting and hence it is now Jagenberg AG Group Company. Polytype Converting is leading brand in Converting Industry worldwide. KCM has sold number of Converting machines to major converting Companies in India.

Kusters Calico has installed around 500 machines in various countries worldwide, which includes Germany, Turkey, Russia, USA, Middle East, Egypt, Iran, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Africa besides selling to all major Textile Brands in India like Arvind, Mafatlal, LNJ Denim, D’decor, Raymonds, S.Kumars, Oswal, Birla Textile, Ultra Denim, Anubha, Signet etc. This year KCM is exploring markets in other countries like Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

KCM exports nearly 70% of textile machinery production. Kusters Calico has received number of times highest value Textile Machinery Export Awards including in the year 2017 from Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association. In value terms KCM export close to 50 to 60 crores earning foreign exchange for the country. KCM imports is not even 25% of exports so KCM is net earner of foreign exchange for the country.

KCM manufacturing facility is spread over 45 Acres of land and covered area is around 150,000 sq. ft. divided into 4 sheds, administrative building, canteen block, electrical section, training & security building etc. KCM has in house facility for Design, Machining, Fabrication, Blasting & Painting, Electrical Panel Wiring & Software Writing, Machine Assembly & Testing.

Kusters Calico is doing a business of around 85 Crores and given direct employment to more than 350 people where more than 95% people are from Vadodara and around in Gujarat.

Kusters Calico have strong backing from Jagenberg AG, the parent company and have invested close to Rs. 10 crores to further expand and upgrade the manufacturing facilities in Baroda. Another Rs. 5 crores investment is planned in the year 2018 to take the Revenues close to Rs. 120 crores.

In coming years many Jagenberg AG Group companies wants to introduce their products in India and Kusters Calico is evaluating the manufacturing of these products in India under “Make in India” concept of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. This will further increase the capacity of the company in India in coming years.

Jagenberg AG is actively involved in the area of promoting German companies in India under part of Prime Minister’s Make In India Mittlestand Program where in Investment opportunities in Gujarat are explored by German Mittlestand Companies.

Recently KCM started recruiting directly through campus interviews the graduate trainee engineers and diploma engineers for the expansion. In 2017 around 10 graduate engineers were recruited.

Around 100 suppliers are associated with KCM for supply of raw materials, machined and fabricated parts, bought out parts from Baroda, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Surat etc. giving indirect employment opportunities to hundreds of people.

The pending order book at the moment is Rs. 60 crores and company expects to cross 100 crores revenue mark this year.
